Racism has grown in Brazilian football

The Football Racial Discrimination Observatory ( Observatório da Discriminação Racial no Futebo) recently released data on racism cases in Brazilian football, in anticipation of its annual report, which will be published shortly.

Sports Value supports the Observatory, and its fight against racism, an unacceptable evil in any respect. We believe very much in the work of the organization, not only in the control of cases in football, but in its educational role, of awareness on the subject, especially for children.

In 2017 there was a 72% increase in racism cases in Brazilian football compared to 2016. Last year, 43 cases were registered, compared to 25 in 2016.

They are unbelievable data. That is why the Observatory is so important. Sports Value will continue to contribute directly to this cause.

Sponsors need to position themselves

Recently, Nike created the campaign “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything” campaign and used the American football player Colin Kaepercnic.

The firm positioning has put the company at the center of an unprecedented controversy in the United States.

Colin Kaepernic led the athletes’ movement during the national anthem at the NFL games, a movement in the fight against racism that caused the ire of conservatives in the US, including President Donald Trump.

Company shares, which fell on the day of the announcement of the new film, have already risen and are currently at their highest ever. Sales exploded, more than 30% growth in online sales and the company’s appreciation was brutal! Today Nike worth US$ 6 billion more than before the campaign.

The proof that doing and propagating the good does very well for the brand and the business!

That more companies have the courage to position themselves on relevant topics, without fear, with conviction in what they believe!
