Sports Value, once again firsthand, publishes an analysis on the finances of Brazilian clubs, referring to the financial year 2019

Few clubs did not publish their balance sheets. This analysis represents more than 90% of the total. The full study will soon be available.

The exchange rate changed a lot un the last 3 years, and imapct the numbers in US$ terms.

Clubs´ revenues grew by 18% in 2019 in R$ terms. In US$ the increase was 13%.

The Brazilian football clubs market reached US$ 1,7 billion in 2019, compared to US$ 1,5 billion in 2018.

Football department costs skyrocketed and reached  US$ 1,2 billion in 2019, compared to US$ 970 million in 2018, a 23% increase.

Debts have increased and today Brazilian football clubs debts surpassed US$ 2 billion.

Flamengo and Athetico-PR presented great financial perfomance last year. Grêmio showed excellent numbers, too.

  Flamengo in 2019

  • Revenues went from US$ 140 million in 2018 to US$ 236 million, an increase of 69% in US$.
  • Net profits of US$ 15 million. Accumulated profits of US$ 140 million in five years.
  • Total Assets of US$ 219 million and Shareholders’ Equity of US$ 32 million.

Athetico-PR in 2019

  • Revenues increased from US$ 50 million in 2018 to US$ 97 million, 97% more.
  • Net profits of US$ 16 million. Accumulated profits US$ 47  million in five years.
  • Total Assets of US$ 225 million and Shareholders’ Equity of US$ 121 million.

     Grêmio in 2019

  • Revenues increased 4% in R$ and 1% in US$ to US$ 109 million.
  • Net profits of US$ 5.5 million. Accumulated profits of US$ 22 million in five years.
  • Total Assets of US$ 89 million and Negative Shareholders’ Equity of US$ -33 million.
